TDM Functionality
TDM has been designed to support a very
conventional approach to the management of technical documents on
construction projects. The basic process is illustrated in the flow
diagram below. The diagram also shows the way in which the system
can be integrated directly into the AutoCad environment. The general
features of the application are as follows:
- Easy Set-up: Projects, Companies, Users, Zones, Phases,
Packages, Document Types.
- Default review and distribution by Package. Case by case
overwrite if necessary, gives total, detailed control.
- CAD & Document controllers may use the full Windows
interface if required, for maximum functionality, speed and
control.
- Handles all technical documents - documents with unique
identification numbers that are subject to revision: drawings,
CAD files, schedules, reports, Method Statements, Health &
Safety files, RFIs. etc.
- All users have instant access to all details in the system:
easy, flexible reports; full history: revisions, review status,
distribution, etc.
- Document controller checks every document / plot file: does
it view and print correctly? has it been given the correct
filename, document number? has it got the correct revision
number and is the revision note accurate / useful?
- Review status recorded on the document as well as in the
database.
- Single action status 'stamp':
- A = Approved
- B = Approved with Comments
- C = Rejected
- Reviewer can attach a complete document as a "comment". All
subsequent viewers must choose whether or not to view attached
comment document.
- When the Recipient Views / Prints document, his Login and
the Time / Date recorded in database. No disputes
. -
Recipient opens the file: everything's there: document, plus
redlined comments all of which are viewable, printable (batch
print, overlay etc.)
- Comprehensive archive and audit trail for Operation and
Maintenance, Litigation Support and suchlike.
These and other features of the system and its operation are
illustrated in the diagram below.
This sort of integration between TDM with other standards
compliant applications is relatively easy to achieve.
